The Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela lies in the heart of the old town.
This is why the whole town and its wall were built around it. The main façade, facing West, dominates the famous Praza do Obradoiro Square, looking towards Pazo de Raxoi.
The monument is surrounded by other squares, allowing you to do a tour around the Cathedral. Facing North is Plaza de la Inmaculada or Azabachería, looking towards San Martiño Pinario. To the South, Praza das Praterías, with the Clock Tower or Berenguela, also cropping out to Praza da Quintana Square, to the East, where the Holy Gate lies, opened only during Holy Years.
